Democracy USA...kind of
This passage in the book reminded me of a class I took last semester entitled Democracy and Ed. Democracy. I cannot remember the last time I truly saw an example of democracy in my education let alone in politics (except for obama). Anyways, even though the book does not really address in education, I'm going to rant. There is no democracy in our educational system. Every curriculum is given to students in a authoritarian way. The teacher stands in front of the class throws a bunch of information at the students and then expects them to spit it back out on a test. How is that democratic..at all? Students should be able to chose something other than their class schedule, which is sometimes even chosen for them. In reference to the book, democracy is truly no where. Corporations own us as consumers and its just something we have to deal with.
